I knew none of this and now feel overqualified to attend a minor league game with coworkers. Thank you.

Fun column. Show more stuff being made. Some of that must be fascinating. Baseball bats, for instance.

Glad you enjoyed it! Baseball bats are indeed very interesting from a production standpoint -- here's wood and aluminum.

Wow!! Those are persnickety processes. Can you imagine making a wooden bat before all that computer help? Talk about time-consuming. Those were great videos. Thanks for putting them up for me.

Of course! I can imagine the production process was much more challenging before those machines came along.

Ya think??? Wonder if there are any old time bat makers around who could talk about that. How about history books about baseball? Not the who hit what but more how the nuts and bolts of it all worked. That would be a great dissertation topic for History majors.

I enjoyed reading but i feel as though you missed out on an opportunity to discuss the great juiced baseball scandal of 2019

I did dig into that a little but I held off on writing about it because I didn't quite understand what made the baseballs juicy during the scandal. I will ask Rob Manfred and get back to you--

I don’t even like sports generally… but this was a lot of fun. Do hockey pucks?

Thank you! I tried to write it so that even folks who aren't very interested in sports would find something to be interested in, so I'm glad I succeeded. Hockey pucks are on the docket for me!
